Can resilience be built before life forces you to use it?
In this episode of the Bourne and Raised Podcast, Pastor Tim Bourne, Pastor Carrie Bourne, Pastor Jordan Bourne, and Pastor Mark Clements continue their conversation on how to build resilience in leadership, marriage, relationships, and everyday life.
The team discusses why talent without adversity can leave people unprepared for pressure, and how discipline, work ethic, and intentionally doing hard things can build the “muscle” of resilience before the real test arrives.
The conversation then turns to accountability and conflict. Can you receive correction without falling apart? Can a marriage, friendship, or team survive a hard conversation and return to health afterward? The group explores why avoiding conflict can actually prevent growth, why coddling can hurt the people we are trying to help, and why healthy people learn to separate their identity from their emotions.
From hiding phones when chores were forgotten to Remember the Titans, hard conversations, marriage, leadership, and learning to keep showing up when you do not feel like it, this episode is about becoming the kind of person who can take a hit, learn from it, and keep moving forward.

What does true resilience look like in marriage, parenting, and leadership?
In this episode of the Bourne and Raised Podcast, Pastor Tim Bourne, Pastor Carrie Bourne, Pastor Jordan Bourne, and Pastor Mark Clements explore how to build a healthy team through grit and perseverance.
Resilience is more than just "getting through it". It’s the ability to return to health after conflict, exhaustion, or failure. The team discusses how resilience is developed like a muscle, why parents must allow children to experience failure, and how faith in Jesus provides a foundation to push off of when life feels overwhelming.
From hilarious parenting stories (including an unforgettable potty-training disaster) to biblical examples like the Apostle Paul and Louis Zamperini, this conversation offers practical tools for anyone looking to lead with grit and purpose.

This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Carrie, Jordan, and Mark continue their conversation on organizational health, focusing on trust and why healthy teams can navigate disagreement without questioning each other’s motives.
We discuss how trust is earned through character, consistency, and follow-through, how gossip and inconsistent leadership undermine it, and why genuine accountability requires relationships built on trust.
The conversation also celebrates dependable volunteers and explores why leaders must invest in others rather than try to do everything themselves. When healthy culture is modeled consistently, it begins to reproduce itself.
Tim and Carrie share personal stories of sacrificing comfort and resources to make room for teammates, reminding us that building a healthy team means putting the mission ahead of ourselves.

This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Carrie, Jordan, and Mark begin a new series on organizational health and what separates a team that simply gets results from one that is genuinely healthy.
In Part 1, we focus on two foundational qualities: clarity and ownership.
We discuss why healthy teams need to know what is true and what actually matters, how leaders can damage culture by fixating on the wrong things, and why confusion often grows when people lose sight of the larger mission.
Then we turn to ownership: taking responsibility, finishing what you start, helping the whole team succeed, and refusing to settle for, “I did my part.” Healthy teams win and lose together.
Part 2 continues with trust and how healthy culture begins to reproduce itself.

This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Jordan, and Titus are joined by Korey and Nolan for a full breakdown of what we proudly call THE GREATEST FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE OF ALL TIME.
This is not your average fantasy league. We talk through the combine-style competitions we use to determine draft order, the ridiculous level of competitiveness that comes with every season, the rivalries that have developed over the years, and some of the unforgettable last-place punishments we have handed out along the way.
Korey also brings the championship trophy into the studio after winning the league back-to-back the last two seasons, which naturally gives everyone one more reason to argue, defend themselves, and talk trash.
From the draft process to the punishments, this league has become its own tradition, complete with rules, history, rivalries, and way too much pride on the line. If you think your fantasy football league is competitive, this episode may make you reconsider.

This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Carrie, and Jordan are joined by longtime Genesis Metro member Tim Salazar for Part 6 of The Origin Of Genesis Metro.
After years of meeting in an elementary school, Genesis Metro reached a major turning point: moving into its first permanent building at 9750 John W. Elliott Dr.
In this episode, we look back on what that transition required, the faith it took to make the move, and the lessons God taught us along the way. What felt like a huge step at the time became another reminder that the story of Genesis Metro has always been built one act of obedience at a time.
Tim Salazar has been part of Genesis Metro for 20 years and has served at some of the highest levels of our organization. His story is woven throughout so many chapters of the church, so this conversation also gives us the chance to reminisce on some classic Salazar stories, celebrate years of faithfulness, and reflect on what it means to keep showing up for what God is building.
This episode is about more than a building. It is about the people, sacrifices, relationships, and faith that helped Genesis Metro take the next step forward.

This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Carrie, and Jordan sit down with Adam, the very first person ever baptized at Genesis Metro Church.
More than 24 years ago, before Genesis Metro had the history, stories, and people it has today, Adam’s life became one of the first visible reminders that God was already at work.
In this episode, Tim and Adam look back on how they first met through what seemed like a random job, how that relationship eventually led to conversations about faith, and how Adam ultimately gave his life to Christ and was baptized.
What started as one changed life became part of the foundation of a much bigger story.
Adam shares what following Jesus has looked like over the decades since that baptism, including building a family of his own and maintaining a strong faith through the different seasons of life. Tim and Carrie also get the opportunity to tell Adam what his story meant to Genesis Metro in those earliest days, when every testimony was evidence that the mission was worth pursuing.
It is a powerful reminder that we rarely know how far one act of obedience, one conversation, or one changed life will reach.
Toward the end of the episode, Adam also opens up about his brother Josh’s battle with cancer. We would love for the Bourne & Raised community to join us in praying for Josh and his family during this season.
This episode is about looking back with gratitude, celebrating a life of faithfulness, and remembering that behind every number, baptism, and church milestone is a person whose story matters.

This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Jordan, Titus, and Mark continue their conversation about the importance of culture by taking a closer look at the heart of the prodigal son’s older brother.
While the father celebrates the return of his lost son, the older brother remains outside, angry and unwilling to join the celebration. His response reveals how easy it is to become focused on comparison, entitlement, and personal frustration instead of rejoicing over a life that has been restored.
Jesus tells us that there is celebration in heaven when one sinner repents. That truth inspires a phrase discussed throughout this episode: “Make heaven crowded and angels tired.” The goal is not merely to build a successful church or attract a crowd. It is to reach so many people with the gospel that heaven is constantly celebrating lives being changed.
As believers, we should never become annoyed by the celebration, resentful of grace, or more concerned with our preferences than with people coming home to God. A healthy culture celebrates salvation, restoration, repentance, and every step someone takes toward Jesus.
At the end of the episode, Rodrigo shares a powerful personal testimony about realizing that he has experienced life as both brothers. At different points in his faith journey, he has been the younger brother who needed to come home and the older brother who struggled with what was happening around him.
His story reminds us that the parable is not simply about deciding which brother is worse. It is an invitation to examine our own hearts and respond to the grace of the Father.
This is Part 2 of our conversation on the importance of culture.

This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Jordan, Titus, and Mark discuss the story of the prodigal son and the celebration that takes place when someone who was lost finally comes home.
Jesus describes a father who welcomes his son with open arms, restores him, and throws a celebration in his honor. But while the father rejoices, the older brother refuses to join the party. Instead of celebrating his brother’s life change, he focuses on resentment, comparison, and everything he believes is unfair.
As believers, we are called to celebrate when lost people encounter Jesus. Yet it is possible to become so focused on preferences, frustrations, or what we think should have happened that we miss the movement of God taking place right in front of us.
The conversation connects this truth to Genesis Metro’s Summer Soundtrack series and the song “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Despite the band’s success, conflict was growing behind the scenes. The sun was shining, but they were still looking at the rain.
That idea raises an important question for every church, family, and organization: Are we creating a culture that celebrates what God is doing, or are we always searching for the rain?
Culture is shaped by what we emphasize, what we tolerate, and what we choose to celebrate. When souls are being saved and lives are being changed, we should be the first people at the party.
This is Part 1 of our conversation on the importance of culture.
